Media Watches Mormon Politicians

30 January 2007 News stories about religion and politics — always hot topics — are now frequently referencing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as politicians who are also Mormons emerge more prominently into the public spotlight. The extra attention is being given both to incumbent politicians in Washington and potential candidates for political office.

CBS, republishing a New Republic column, and The Boston Globe are among the news outlets that have recently published such stories. Both stories accurately characterize the Church’s institutional neutrality in partisan politics and the Church’s positions on particular social issues.
